Description: Artists are invited to the ECSU Gallery to take part in a group panel discussion organized by the National Puerto Rican Diaspora Museum. The discussion will be led by a moderator from UCONN’s Puerto Rican Initiative Studies, an organization dedicated to document and support Puerto Ricans’ vital intellectual and cultural contributions to Connecticut and to provide research-based support for the development of public policies addressing the needs of Puerto Ricans in the State of Connecticut. The panel will aim to initiate discussion

among the artists by posing a series of questions that prompt them to speak about the themes of their work and how these reflect the current impacts on the Puerto Rican community. Additionally, the artists will share their personal experiences of Puerto Rican identity and explore their responses to the cultural climate of the Puerto Rican diasporic experience in the United States. Audience members will also be encouraged to share their own experiences and engage with the artists.
